Rush was born in Queensland.

Lowitja "Lois" O'Donoghue was born in SA,she was named Australian of the year in 1984, not sure if there has been anyone else since her that was born in SA.

why should one Australian be anymore important than anyone else ?

i think we are all worthy of the title in our own part of the world/life/family

People aren't all alike though.

Some contribute a lot to society; some take a lot from society.

Its not a bad thing to recognise people in the first category, on the proviso that they were deserving of the award/recognition.

Robert Helpmann in the 60s. He was. Too lazy to go through them all but certainly haven't been many.
