However, I do think the AFL draft will overlook him for this reason - lack of height and can play only one position. For example, compare him with Hawthorn's Puopolo, also a small forward pocket who played multiple positions, was quicker and stronger overhead.
If we do manage to keep Rowey, he might be "licking his lips" with the prospect of having maybe 2 new Eagle's talls  to "crumb".

You could be right Port have stated they are taking Mead father son there’s interest in Pickett so Rowe could slip under the radar .

What do you guys think Sheedy will bring to the Eagles in 2020?

My fleeting meeting of him back when he was playing was that he was an extremely nice bloke.

As for coaching style, I have no idea.
He was a product of one year under the illustrious Phil Carman, 4 years under Brenton Phillips, 2 with Rick Macgowan, 3 with Luke Norman and then 1 or 2 with Seamus Maloney. All very different styles.

Whialt he won a flag and a Magarey medal with Phillips, I think his best and most consistent footy was with Macgowan and Norman. There were regular finals appearances during this time.

My perception is that Macgowan was very skill focussed, Norman brought a more harder edge to Sturt. MAybe Sheeds will be somewhere in the middle of that if he has developed a bit more "mongrel" about him Very Happy

Mickj, Re your last comment ".... so Rowe could slip beneath the radar", I suggest no-one]slips beneath the radar with the diligent analysis by the AFL recruiters. They may get it wrong sometimes but that is after they have closely examined every attribute of the player on/off the field. And many excellent SANFL players will be deliberately passed over for those reasons, not "slipping under the radar".

Sorry I was using a coin of phrase
I take it Rowe can’t go as father son to Adelaide

To Chambo, re what we think Sheedy may bring to the Eagles.
His coaching style would be a mystery to most of us - with him not having come from an AFL background, he may be into a simpler style - perhaps, that's not a bad thing considering that SANFL players can't do the training hours that AFL players do.
One thing that is already evident which may be partly his influence or cards have fallen Luke Powell's way is that the recruiting has been very targeted and from lesser leagues, covering tall forwards deficiency, lack of pace and height on the flanks. And probably not as costly.
Our poor field kicking and goal kicking have cost us many games over recent years. You said Sheedy was known for his skills rather than his toughness - well perhaps it's time for the pendulum to swing back to skills while trying to hang on to Godden's strong defensive efforts. Trouble in Godden's era was that our scoring dried up.
Always a "buzz" with 5 new recruits plus 1-2 to come and it will say something for Sheedy raising the morale of the Club if Jordan Foote decides to stay.

Is Luke Norman still at the Eagles?

If so, the protege stepping out from a former master?

Missing out on Broadbent hurts! Had him pencilled in as our key midfielder. Now makes it more imperative to sign two good mid-fielders. But are there any left out there?

Feathers may be able to answer your question .
At some stage there was talk of recruiting young guys from North I guess that’s the NT .
But I don’t have a clue

Your comments on Broadbent you forget things about him .
Let’s only say on this forum he’s 29 injury prone perhaps one year then off to the amateurs.
Eagles need youth and pace the youth who want to play for them . Not players looking to go to the AFL or leaving the AFL looking for money .

Just my thoughts

I believe Jack Gaffney has left the club and will play possibly for Port Districts.
Pre-season will be shared between West Croydon's oval on Hanson Road and Footy Park.
The young recruits I previously mentioned were from Queensland but that has seemed to gone a bit cold, wanted tooooo much.
Should have some more news in the next few days.

Jack and Cooper Gaffney are similar (height, weight, good skills, positions played) so Cooper's chances improve with Jack's departure.
Addresses Mickyj statement above about " need for pace and youth who want to play for the Club" - suspect 3 categories of SANFL players
1. a large number who see the SANFL as a stepping stone to AFL and, by 23 years of age, become disillusioned.
2. a smaller number who are moderately paid but are prepared to put in 6 football days/week to play at the top state level rather than collecting bigger $$/training much less in regional leagues or playing with their mates.
3. by SANFL rates, the highly paid marquee/ex AFL player.

So, Mickyj, the "Broadbents" and the "Jared Allmonds" are very important because even in their late 20s, they may well be hanging around for longer than the "youth" and jag a Premiership (eg Allmond, Jessie White)
But that's done and dusted, we'll move on and look forward to further signings.  Finding good jobs to attract interstaters must be a nightmare and clubs like Norwood, with many prominent business names amongst their supporters, can do it so much more easily. It's a credit to the WWT Club that we have been the most successful club in terms of Grand Final appearances (despite few Premierships) this Century.
