MURRAY BRIDGE DOGS ?
There is a current proposal to build a new $6 million dollar Greyhound track
Plans are to have racing at this complex by mid 2017

Murray Bridge would make it the 4th main track
Angle Park
Gawler
Strathalbyn

The plan is to have weekly racing at MB
Does Strathalbyn survive in the long run ?

OBJECTIONS
There is a petition of close to 35000 signatures against the building of the track
Animal cruelty cited as a reason why
The legacies of the recent  live baiting scandal  probably a factor

Strath will close when Murray Bridge is up and running is my understanding.

the objections to the track and the 35,000 signatures appear to be from overseas.

Matt Corby put out a release on Monday in response to the RSPCA and their claims of the Animal Cruelty in the industry.

Does that mean the Strathalbyn Trotting Club will also go as well ?

they'll never race at Strath again, Scrappy as you know there has been a few meetings scheduled only to be scrapped (no pun intended) because of the lack of nominations & hurried meetings put on at Globe Derby, most trotting people wont travel anymore, they are happy to walk their horses across the road & this is part of another problem & that is people attending meetings, Saturday nights is usually a decent enough crowd barring those chilly winter nights, but when you go to Kapunda, Victor Harbor & to a lessor extent Port Pirie people come out to watch, i know it was cup night & was told you could not move at Mt Gambier on Saturday night just gone, but the old adage of the circus coming to town gets people knowing & in turn interested & actually attend meetings when it comes to ''their turn''

as for the dogs wasn't there a track already established there & do they still have the Aldinga dogs ?

Greyhound racing banned in New South Wales
The industry participants have been given 12 months notice
Effective 1/7/2017

One reason given for the ban is that too many dogs have had their lives ended in the sport because they were not competitive enough
it is estimated between 48,000 -68,000 dogs have lost their lives in the past 12 years

This is going to be a massive story
This is going to affect a lot of people

Yet on on the news the politicians said it won't be banned here they have strict controls ,
im not for or against I grew up with greyhounds I grew up around dog tracks before angle park was built .

There is an opinion that the NSW ban may well be halted in Parliament
Some opposition parties will moot to have the ban stopped

Ban overturned, quite right too, you can not close the industry down because of a few bad eggs, in place should be (probably will be) hefty fines & gaol time for inappropriate behaviour & "training methods"

Did a greyhound trainer lose his composure when his dog missed out on being greyhound of the year at the very recent greyhound of the year dinner/awards night ?

Yep. I dropped in a couple of weeks ago and was surprised with the new set up near the bar and tab.
Great idea. Took them long enough to come up with something for the participants....

Was great to see some excitement on track with a syndicate involving jockeys and gallops trainers getting a win last night. Really livened it up.

There is a very likely greyhound overhaul in South Australia in the near future
This may well be the scheduling of dog races, in 2019, or before

Monday night- Murray Bridge
Tuesday day - Angle Park
Wednesday day - Gawler / Mount Gambier on alternate weeks
Thursday night - Angle Park
Friday day- Murray Bridge[straight track racing]
Sunday-Mount Gambier day, Gawler night

If this is correct then it means
Strathalbyn is finished
Gawler will go from 104 meetings to 78
Angle Park will go from 156 meetings to 104
Murray Bridge will have 104 meetings

ALBION PARK DOGS
13/6/2018
R11-7
Shiloh Ranch
Led all the way winning easily

I think the trainer should bring it to South Australia and race the dog on the straight track at Virginia
