The Guardian Australia, a site without the Murdoch slanting of the news and with great writers and articles, including sport and footy.

The GAA on 7Mate on Sunday and Monday mornings.
Getting to the pointy stage of the All-Ireland championships too, next 6 weeks should be brilliant.

Re: What's Hot
Wasn't sure where to put this, but the pre-match tribute held by the Fremantle Football Club last night for the 3 kids who were lost in the MH17 tragedy was simply moving. I had tears in my eyes when I saw the young lass in the line up crying for her lost friend, I'm sure still struggling to understand what happened and why.
The strength their parents showed was incredible. We, as humans, often don't know the strength we posses until the ultimate feeling, grief, is heaped upon us. In a moment where emptiness falls painfully short of describing the feeling inner strength see's us through.
Well done to the FFC.

Re: What's Hot
I only saw a photo of it on facebook this morning and that was enough to get me a bit misty.
Hating the world at the moment. I haven't been able to watch news for a couple of weeks now.
It's the stuff involving children that just kills me, you can't help but ask what if it was my kids??

That tribute was absolutely fantastic Booney - I don't think there was a dry eye anywhere - I couldn't even speak.
I heard that Pavlich was (or is) neighbours with the family as well.
Very touching indeed.

What's hot...
Certainly NOT the weather!
I don't ever remember it being this cold, this time of year?

Not sure which thread to post this in, but...

Won my bowls Pennant on Saturday! Not only that, the win secured promotion back to the 'big stage' in Division One for next year.
What makes it even sweeter is the fact that a lot of the old boys I play against are my customers during the week!

Was great stuff GN - even though I didn't get over to take more of an interest in your game (plus chasing around a 4 year old and a 2 year old limited my actual watching time...lol) - was looking and hoping you'd win all day and was so glad when you did !
See I told you, you wouldn't have to wait long to get back up to Div 1 !!

Re: What's Hot
It ended up being a lot easier than we expected to be honest!
The team gelled really well this year and I think that's what makes the most difference. It's not the skill of the individuals, but rather the teams ability to get the best out of each other, and we achieved that this year.
Hopefully we can keep the form going in the higher Division next season - after all someone has to knock off that mob from McLaren Vale! I think 5 in a row is enough thank you! Haha.
*On a side note it was great to have the McLaren boys get around us before and after the game, definitely appreciated the support!*

I'll be on that avatar ship soon. 4 days in Japan, then back to back cruises on the Serenade of the Seas from Copenhagen; one to Helsinki, St Petersburg, Tallinn and Stockholm, the second up the coast of Norway, round North Cape and back again.
And do you think I need a break?
Too bloody right I do.

the Plympton under 16.5's who today came from 5 goals down to beat the Unley Jets by 1 point, the Unley team hadn't lost a match for about 4 years & usually win by 10 goals plus
